December Delights: A Recap of Travel, Family, and Christmas Festivities

December was all about packed schedules and lots of adventure. Things moved quickly this month. Thanksgiving was over and it was already December. I can’t remember the last time things felt so rushed. Especially because every weekend in December was completely booked. Usually going into such a hectic month, I feel overwhelmed just thinking about it. Not this time, I was cool as a cucumber…. Until Christmas.

NEW HAMPSHIRE: H&H HOTEL TAKEOVER

The first weekend of December we attended H&H’s hotel takeover. When we made the plans to attend, I

Time to get ready to travel

was really looking forward to branching out, making new friends and really having the opportunity to party outside our events.

Travel day was like every other. We hopped on a 5pm ferry, landing at the hotel around 9pm. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by so many people. I think that overwhelmed me because I just couldn’t get it together after that. Maybe because it was such a busy day. I worked from 9-3. Granted it was from home, but that doesn't take away from the fact that I have to be alert and paying attention during that time period. As soon as 3pm hit, we had to hit the road. That felt very rushed with no decompression time. Add 5 hours worth of travel and I was just spent.

As we entered, Mark, the owner of H&H was at the registration table. It was nice to see him upon arrival. We grabbed our wristbands and headed for our room on the party floor. Boom - second wave of feeling overwhelmed. The floor was already bumping, lights going, humans chillin’ in the hallway and rooms decorated. We went directly to our room and shut the door. Spencer had some work to finalize so I took the opportunity to lay on the bed, taking some time by myself. The hotel room has a sitting area and bedroom space so Spencer was able to set up shop in the sitting area, leaving me peacefully in the bed. I must have been really tired because I woke up in the middle of the night fully dressed with my beanie hat still on and Spencer laying next to me. Turns out, Spencer ate way too many gummies while working, that it knocked him on his ass. So we completely missed the first night of the event.

WHAT TO KNOW: HOTEL TAKEOVER PARTY FLOOR

Before we go any further, let's take a minute to talk about booking the party floor at a hotel takeover. The party floor is the place to be if you love being in the action 24/7 (for the most part). Usually those that have a party floor room keep their doors open most of the takeover. Generally, it’s for others to flow around and hang out. The doors are almost always decorated with the names of the room members, photos, and decorations that tune into who they are. Some have sexy games setup, some bring snacks to share and all sorts of other goodies. Sometimes, those on the party floor will chat to assign who should bring what, especially if there is a party suite designated as an open space for all to hang out in.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON POOL PARTY

Saturday afternoon from 1-5pm (I think it was) was the pool party, clothing optional. I generally don’t go naked in new environments, so I had my bathing suit on the whole time. I was so excited to see Ash, she and her other half were the host couple for the weekend, so I knew I would see them down by the pool. They did such a great job of getting everyone engaged in the party games. These games are always fun, crazy and sexual in some way. Everyone is always laughing and cheering the participants on. It's really fun to watch.

It was nice to kick back and chat it up with a few other humans that we see frequently at other events. I can’t say I really branched out and made new friends, as I was still in that funk from the night before. So I was sticking to my comfort zone but still had such a fun time. I laughed so much that afternoon.

SATURDAY NIGHT ADULT LIFESTYLE PARTY

I was patiently waiting for Saturday night because our sweet Luna was meeting us and so was Kris and Jenn from Fusion Parties. We don’t get to hang out outside of our events because we live so far away from each other. So to be able to chill with them was something I was looking forward to.

We eventually made our way down to the party itself. I was wearing an all white one piece bodysuit with my white platform shoes. I was feeling a little insecure wearing it because it was a bit big on me. I didn’t try on any of my outfits prior to packing and none of them fit properly. The one green outfit with black boots I had in mind, Spencer thought looked bad because the straps in the back were a bit baggy. That completely threw my night. Ladies, I am sure you can understand that when you have an outfit vision and when it doesn’t work out, It just creates chaos. That’s what happened. I just felt insecure about the whole outfit. Eventually, I ended up wearing Spencer’s oversized white sweatshirt so we could smoke outside. I never took it off. My outfit became a sweatshirt over this pants outfit and no shoes. Talk about stunner. LMAO. But you know what, in that moment, I was comfortable and felt good. So that’s really all that matters to me. We danced for a little while, chatted with some other party goers for a bit, but then went back up to our room to hang.

Shortly thereafter, the party slowly started to trickle up to the party floor where we did leave our door open for visitors. Spencer and Kris are really good at socializing. Jenn and I like to hang back. So there was a good balance of the girls just kickin back and the boys entertaining.

The night ended with Jenn and I going to sleep in the bed, while everyone else hung out. They were all supposed to drive home that night, but out of nowhere it started to snow. I know it caused some angst and delayed their departure hoping it would stop. Unfortunately, it did not. It turned into some long, slow drives. Thank goodness I was sleeping because I would have really pressed for them to stay.

I was shocked when I woke up and saw a parking lot full of snow.

SUNDAY BREAKFAST AND TRAVEL

I love the mornings. I find the connections are so much more pure so you will always see me chatting it up on the breakfast line. That’s exactly how Sunday morning went and it really was heartwarming. We didn’t stay long because we wanted to be on the road by 10am. We are really trying to get home at earlier hours on Sundays so we have some down time before a new week starts. It’s been working out well so far.

MY BROTHERS BIRTHDAY

There's nothing like family
There's nothing like family

I am so happy we were home early on Sunday because I needed time to decompress before Wednesday,

December 18th. My brother's birthday. He and I are exactly 18 months apart and are the best of friends along with our sister. My mom is in town from Pennsylvania and mentioned she was taking my brother and his two little boys to dinner on his birthday. So I boldly invited myself to go which then led to my sister's invite. It was a family affair! I truly love spending time with my siblings and their little offspring. They all make my heart so happy. We have a bond like no other. Fierce and strong.

Whenever we have the opportunity to be together, we take it. We do speak to each other 24/7 in our siblings chat. These are the humans that keep me going every day. The ones who truly understand because we've been through it all together. Somethings we should never have had to manage, but that's what makes our bond stronger than ever.

NUTTIN FOR XXXMAS

Two days after the birthday get together was the travel day for Nuttin for XXXmas. To read about the event weekend, check out Nuttin For XXXmas: Our Last Adult Lifestyle Event of the Year

SPENCER’S DAUGHTER COMES TO TOWN

The Thursday following our event weekend, Spencer’s daughter came to town for a few days. The schedule was packed to ensure spending as much time with her as we could. Thursday night was a family dinner full of Christmas spirit. Spencer’s mom loves a good themed cocktail. This year we had the Grinch. It had a sugar rim, which I generally do not like. But with this one, it balanced it so well. It was absolutely delicious. I think I drank half the pitcher. To go along with the drinks, the appetizers. Escargot anyone?

The dinner table was perfectly set with small Christmas gifts at each seat and a surprise scratch off under our plates. The gifts were themed matching pajamas for Christmas and warm gear for our New York City trip the following day. The presentation was so thoughtful.

Dinner was Beef Bourguignon at the request of Spencer’s daughter. His parents are good like that. Whatever the special occasion is, that person gets to put in the meal request. Dinner also always includes a salad, which I love. For dessert, we had the famous chocolate cupcakes with no icing. I think powdered sugar would be a great add, but not necessary.

CHRISTMAS IN NEW YORK CITY

There’s nothing like Christmas in New York City. Especially if it magically snows. My relationship with the city is a love hate one. I love it because it is NEW YORK CITY. There is no place like it. I hate it because it is crazy, overwhelming and ridiculous at times. It’s ten times worse at Christmas. Be prepared to be shoulder to shoulder, fighting to get through the crowd. It’s insane.

This trip was going to be more memorable than any other because we were taking a sprinter van in to be chauffeured all around Manhattan. That is traveling in style. Don’t laugh at me, but I’ve always wondered what that would be like after watching so many episodes of Housewives. This was my very own housewife moment full of cheese & crackers and adult beverages.

We made our way to Hudson Yard where we cruised the shops and ate dinner. We were really lucky to get a spot to eat, as you really need reservations. We made it in before the dinner rush so we were seated with the notation of needing to be out of there at a certain time. One of the best cosmo’s I have drank came from Electric Lemon, our dinner spot. It was a small size, but it was delicious. So was my chicken dinner. I forgot to snap a photo of the entree, I was just so hungry, I wasn’t thinking about anything other than my belly.

Next up was the Christmas shops at Bryant Park. The cutest little village you ever saw with such unique merchandise. It is a must see for the holiday bucket list. Don’t forget to get yourself a cup of hot chocolate while you are there.

The final stop was Rockefeller center. It’s a remarkable sight. Even though we are there almost yearly for Christmas, it never gets old. Maybe because so many don’t have the luxury of visiting that I never want to take for granted all there is in my very own backyard.

The only disappointing thing about the whole trip was not getting candied street nuts. I didn’t see any vendor selling them so we settled for a pretzel. The next best thing.

TIME TO HIT THE CLUB

Saturday night Spencer's daughter was hanging with some friends so myself, Spencer and one of our besties headed to Painters, a local bar where a DJ we like was playing. Even though it was a holiday party, I dressed in a black one piece futuristic ensemble. There were too many Christmas themed outfits for me at that time. But not Spencer, he went out like an elf on the shelf. He looked fantastic and bar goers really found it joyful. He took pictures with so many people. We were chuckling so much over it.

I was really looking forward to a sexy night with Spencer and our friend, but as we were getting ready to leave, another vanilla couple we know showed up so we stayed way longer than expected. We eventually migrated to our house, so any extra curricular activity was off the table. Awwww chucks!

SUNDAY CHRISTMAS WITH THE FAMILY

Sunday morning we had brunch and our own mini Christmas with Spencer’s daughter, boyfriend and parents. We had french toast casserole, a favorite I’ve really grown to love. I even got to take some home as leftovers. LOL. Soon it was time to exchange gifts and say our final goodbyes. It was a successful but too short of a visit!

LET THE CHRISTMAS CHAOS BEGIN

I’m not a fan of Christmas itself. I love the idea of it and the days leading up to it. But to this day, I still hate having to decide between families. Add in the inlaw side and it makes it even more complicated. I rather stay home by myself truthfully. I know that's hardcore, but it just makes the politics of things so much easier. My sister does this and it has made her so much happier.

This year, my sister hosted Christmas Eve. It was the usual suspects plus one of my mom’s sisters and her husband. The day started at 10am and ended around 830pm. It was an all day affair!

Overall, I will say we had a great time. Us siblings can have the best time anywhere together. We are always laughing until we are crying. Add in the little ones with all their personalities, it's just the best. Christmas Eve success. Until about 11:30pm when the politics start to spew their ugly heads. It’s too much to get into, but ultimately it's soul draining.

CHRISTMAS DAY

We spent Christmas Day in Connecticut with Spencer's family. His aunt & uncle's house makes you feel like you are heading into a lifestyle Christmas movie. I love it. Since ferries don’t run on Christmas, we had to drive around which took about 4 hours. We arrived about an hour before dinner. Unfortunately, I was so preoccupied over the politics swirling, I was half there, half not. I ended up receiving a phone call that made me 15 minutes late for the start of dinner, almost missing my salad. Thank god I didn’t because it was delicious. Pears, mixed greens with candied pecans… OH MY. I can eat that by the bucket full. Dinner itself was a roast, cooked perfectly to melt in your mouth with baked potato and green beans. I wish I knew how to cook that well! Maybe I’ll add it to my 2025 vision board.

Dessert was homemade peach pie with the peaches from their peach tree. It doesn’t get any more fresh than that. At some point during dessert, Spencer decided we were going to leave at 10pm instead of staying over. He wanted to beat the morning traffic and maybe get me home based on how the day was going. I know it was a combination of things. We both chugged two cups of coffee, packed the furbabies up and started for home. I stayed awake for a long time, maybe 2 hours or so. The true rock star of the night goes to Spencer for always keeping us safe.

THE AWKWARD WEEK BETWEEN CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS

This is the week we spend on the couch watching reruns of Law & Order all while ordering out every day. LMAO. Legit, that is all we have done. I’ve also worked on my social strategy and content creation, all from the luxury of our couch.

We end our year with Fusion Party, ringing in 2025 with some of our closest friends. But this is a tale for another day.

HAPPY NEW YEARS 2025!

Until next time, I will talk to you super soon,
