75 Day Challenge - Day 15-19 Check In

Welcome to days 15 through 19, some of the most challenging days that I needed to navigate to set the tone for the rest of the challenge. With careful planning and a lot of focus, I knew I would be successful or should I say it was a priority for me to be successful. It is important for me to follow the 75 day challenge to the best of my ability. Event weekends are one of the areas that I really wanted to work on. Every time we travel I get so off balance. It's so easy to fall off track because of being on the go and trying to be quick and convenient. This time I really planned and really thought about what would make the most amount of sense without cutting myself off from enjoying the moments.

This was the trip that was going to be the pivotal change in whether I can sustain this new mindset going forward. After all is said and done, I think yes.

The first challenging point I needed to plan through were my meals. I say in every single blog how much I love the ferry food. It was going to be hard to turn down all the tasty options. The grilled cheese, French fries, BLT with cheese, Chicken Caesar wrap, Turkey sandwich, it's ALL SO DELICIOUS! On the flip side, I was keeping in mind how everything it's cooked. If I get chicken fingers, it's obviously fried, if I get French fries, it's fried.  If I get the grilled cheese, it's the cheese, the bread, and it's cooked with so much butter. All these foods are so rich and certainly not what I'm used to eating after making small changes over the last couple of weeks. I wanted to stay  consistent so it was really important for me to prepare meals.

For the ride out, I heated my dinner, carrying it in a reusable thermos. I packed 2 factor meals for Saturday, so I could have one for a late lunch early dinner and then, if hungry, after the club.

Generally speaking, I don't really like to eat after the club, because I'd rather have booty and who wants to have booty on a full belly? But I figured it was better safe than sorry. Sunday, I planned on eating what I wanted. Within reason of course. As you can see, I was really thinking it through.

The hotel has a continental breakfast so on Saturday, I was planning on having oatmeal, hard boiled eggs and a piece of fruit

I had it all mapped out including the fact that the team always brings sweet treats to set up, There's usually doughnuts or crumb cake or both or more. To balance out the baked goods I bought a healthy option which was orange slices for sharing. The only thing I didn't take into consideration was Spencer's thoughtfulness. I usually sleep the last leg of the trip into Rhode Island. Most of the time there's a stop off at the gas station for miscellaneous supplies such as water and/or snacks. Spencer loves me so much, he always gets me my favorite things and this time he got me a Butterfinger. When I saw it, I was like, oh my goodness and gleamed with happiness, I was so excited. Lol. It's the little things.

Now that I gave you some insight to my thoughts beforehand, let's talk about what actually happened ….

I did bring my heated meal for the ferry, which was a turkey dinner factor meal. It's one of my favorites. I was successful in the fact that I did not order any real food. I ordered a crumb cake and I am so happy I did because it was really yummy! Spencer didn't eat all of his French fries, so I ended up eating maybe 15 after we docked, as a last minute snack. Truthfully, I don't think that was too bad taking into consideration that I would normally get all that on the ferry myself and so I feel like I definitely made better choices. Although not completely 100% healthy, they were way more intentional and that is an improvement! That's all I can ask for.

I mentioned the Butterfinger but I didn't eat that until Saturday when I got back from the club and was decompressing a little bit. I had a sweet treat to ease the soul. Saturday morning breakfast I did proceed to have oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, and a red delicious apple.

I felt really good about sticking to the goal, especially because I walked for 30 minutes on the treadmill while Spencer was still sleeping.  I figured 30 minutes of focused exercise and then the rest of the day was set up, plus dancing and steps through the night. My mission was to hit my 10000 steps before leaving for the event. Anything after 10k was a bonus. Then everything resets at 12 midnight. I was putting myself in a position where I knew I would be able to achieve my steps based upon the activities that we had going on and the time that I had allotted.

Mizzy Loves Snacks

The morning was going great until we got to the club. I failed miserably and ate 3 doughnuts. Yes, you read that right. I had 3 doughnuts and I didn't give a damn. I had my favorite strawberry frosted to start then a chocolate frosted with sprinkles and an old fashion. A little bit of everything. yum yum yum yum yum

For lunch/early dinner I had one of my factor meals and that was that. I didn't end up having a meal after the event so I kind of feel all right with my choices. Sure, I had all those doughnuts, but I didn't really have much food so it kind of balanced out (Mizzy logic and I only apply it sometimes).

For my drink of the night, I went with a shot of vodka and water. I’m finding this is a great point of balance for me through the night. I'm really proud that we didn't order out and we didn't have pizza at 3 AM.

All of these things made such a difference on how I was feeling. Come Sunday, I really let loose, I'm not going to lie. For breakfast I had a waffle and a bagel. At the club, I had another doughnut. Thankfully we didn't have food on the ferry because it was a small boat and we just were not interested in having anything that they were offering. I waited until dinner, which was a dinner date at the Chinese restaurant. I ordered boneless spare ribs with fried rice and an egg roll. It really hit the spot. This has become our Sunday night tradition after an event weekend and I wouldn't change it for the world.

From a self-reflection standpoint, I think that my body is starting to feel pretty good. I don't feel as bloated lately. I feel like I'm managing snacks way more, although not a great example this weekend.

Sticking to substantial meals and hitting my 10000 steps a day is making a huge difference as well. I love the routine I'm creating.  My mind feels clear, focused and I am making great strides forward in all areas of life right now. I really feel like it's because of this challenge and staying on track.

I'm at the point where I need to step up my workout game, pushing to the next level. To do that, I've ordered resistance bands. I think that that will be a great addition for the next phase. Little by little I can feel my body getting stronger. Especially after this past weekend. My body wasn’t hating me with all the activity through setup and breakdown.

As you can see, even though I am not a drill sergeant in regards to this challenge, I am still making progress and changes that I feel proud of.
